Hijaab & Purdah

Female going to a male doctor

Q:

Is it correct to say that it is established from the above text that it is not permissible for a male doctor to look at a female patients awrah if a female doctor is available?

Interaction between males and females in a maktab

Q: In an Islamic after-school madrasah, boys and girls come to learn how to read the Quran and other essentials of Deen. Male teachers are appointed to teach the boys and female teachers for the girls. However, there is some interaction between males and females and I would like to know the Islamic ruling about that.

1. Is it allowed for male teachers to teach female students who are in their teens or for male teachers to take exams for such students? And can female teachers teach boys who are in their teens?

2. Is it permissible for a male teacher to teach the female teachers tajwid and in particular look at their face uncovered to see if they are reading the letters properly?

3. Is it permissible for male teachers and female teachers to sit together in meetings without any barrier in between?

4. Are male teachers and female teachers allowed to socialise with one another outside of the madrasah hours by going to restaurants etc or have friendly chit-chat and joke with one another?

5. Is it permissible for a male and female teacher to be alone with one another in any part of the madrasah building such as an office or madrasah room, or a corridor where they cannot be seen by anyone else? Is it allowed for a male teacher to be alone with a female teacher in a room with a window where they can be seen by others or where there is a cctv camera?

6. Are male teachers allowed to talk to female parents and vice versa? Please kindly provide answers to the questions above in light of the Hanafi fiqh.

Going to male gynaecologists

Q: Does Mufti have any solutions on maintaining purdah when delivering by a male gynaecologist?

Male paramedics attending to a Muslim female

Q: If a lady is in niqaab and happens to be in an accident and there is only male paramedics on the scene, is it allowed for them to check her out and see her face?

Women driving

Q: Is it permissible for a woman to take car license either if she is in need or just for enjoyment?

Removing one's hijaab to study

Q: I started wearing my hijab since 2016, no one forced me with it and it was my choice, and it has been a year for wearing it, but the problem is the job of the family that I am working in. It mainly deals with men and our customers are for men. If I plan to study a major for this job, I have to remove my hijab, especially in my country that I live in. It is one of the reasons for a Muslim lady to be forced to remove her hijab, unless if she is married or the guy who would want to be halal for her, ask her to wear hijab. If I wanted to study a major and it is not eligible for a lady to be wearing hijab for this major or job, would Allah punish me for removing the hijab? I have chosen it with love, because I wanted Allah to be near always and for so many reasons. What can I do to ask forgiveness from Allah, if I remove the hijab? Can I fast for one week asking forgiveness? I know Allah is kind and knows what is inside my heart, and Allah knows that even if life forced me to remove the hijab, I would still come back to wearing it, but I would like to know, if I remove my hijab, what can I do so that Allah would forgive me?

Wearing niqaab in a western country

Q: I have questions regarding the niqab. I know that it is worn widely in the Middle East. What about in the West, I live in North Carolina and I’ve been wanting to wear it but have been confused because some say you can’t and some say it’s not appropriate for the West. I just want some clarity on this especially if you are still in school, as in High School would this be appropriate?

Wearing a jilbaab

Q: Is it necessary to wear a jilbab (a garment that starts from the top of the head), or is it permissible to wear an abaya (with the same coverage but starts from shoulders) along with a hijab?

Hijaab

Q: I wore hijab two years ago and now I really want to take it off. I have been waiting for few months for that feeling to change and it's not changing. I pray and I read Quran but the environment is not helping me. A lot of people are mistreating me because of it and I feel people treat me through the hijab not for who I am. I have been searching a lot to understand why I must wear it but nothing convinced me.

Women covering their faces

Q: If the face of women and hands are not awrah then why is it compulsory to cover? Is it a major sin to show the face? You said in one answer that it is compulsory in this time of fitnah... Isn't it compulsory from the era of our Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) when the ayah came?
