Women's Salaah

Performing Salaah wearing a loose fitting dress

Q: If I am offering salaah wearing a full sleeved shirt, is it permissible to wear a thin dupatta for salaah if it is too colourful that hardly could be seen through.

Women covering the hands when performing Salaah

Q: Is it compulsory for a female to cover her hands up to the wrists during Salaah i.e. the area of the hands from the fingers till the wrists?

Women covering the neck in Salaah

Q: Are hanafi ladies supposed to cover the area between the throat and chin which normally remains exposed with a normal burqa? Normally some people have a double chin in that area. The Malaysian and Thailand girls of our Madrassah who were shafi'i would wear a special burqa to cover that part.

Women covering their wrists and ankles in Salaah

Q: Does the wrist and ankle of a woman have to be covered in Salaah?

Wife performing Salaah in the front and husband performing Salaah behind

Q: Is it a problem if, while I am performing salaah at home and my husband is also performing some salaah separately, but he stands behind me. Not directly behind me but behind the line I am standing in? Please advise.

Making the toes face towards the qibla in sajdah

Q: When females pray salaah in a sitting position and in sajdah position is it sunnah for them to place the feet towards the right and also place the toes pointing towards the qiblah or it sunnah only to place the feet towards the right and the toes shouldn't face the qiblah? I was told that the toes should also point towards the qiblah but I am unable to find the reference?

Transparent burqa

Q: I would like to know what defines transparent according to Shar'iah. With regards to the burqa I wear for salaah if I put one layer in front of me I can see through it however when it is on my head the layer that falls in the back makes it dark. So one is unable to see through. Is it permissible to read salaah in such a burqa? If I wear it and stand in front of the mirror I am unable to see the shape of my hair or head in the mirror.

A strand of hair of a woman becoming exposed in Salaah

Q: If a strand of a woman's hair becomes exposed in salaah (for a long time) will her salaah be valid?

Postures of Salaah for women

Q: Is there any Hadith that clarifies women's Salaah in terms of postures?

Women concealing their shape in Salaah

Q: Could Mufti Saheb please clarify if there is difference between the fardh and the mustahab satars of a woman in salaah. If her body was covered but part of her clothing fitted in a way that showed her shape, will her salaah be valid?
