Miscellaneous masaail of Janaazah

Guidelines for a ghusal khana

Q: A ghusal khana was constructed in our locality. We want to put up a poster on the wall with a few guidelines regarding the ghusal khana, for example:

1. There should be no mixing of males and females.

2. Only those carrying out the ghusal and those assisting in the ghusal should be present, others should wait outside.

3. Silence should be maintained in the ghusal khana at all times.

4. No item of the ghusal khana should be removed for personal use.

5. No pictures or videos should be taken at any time.

We would appreciate if you could please correct and approve the above together with adding more points.

Making dua for the deceased while touching the coffin or mayyit

Q: Is it permissible to make dua for the deceased while touching the coffin/mayyat?

Passing away on a Monday

Q: Is there any virtue for the one who passes away on a Monday?

Building the graveyard boundary pillar on a portion of a grave

Q: There is a qabrastan in our town which runs under the management of our masjid and I work as a supervisor there. As we have limited space in our qabrastan we have to refill the mud every 5 to 10 years because we only have one qabrastan in our town. We have tried a lot to find another place for a qabrastan but unfortunately we were not able to find one because of different circumstances as its a hindu nation and the percentage of Muslims in total is only 4.3%.

We have made 3 gates in a boundary to enter the qabristan and we have to make stairs and pillars. Few months ago, a person passed away and was burried in the same qabristan and unfortunately the pillar that we were making has been placed slightly on his qabr but not totally on it.

We are facing a lot of issues regarding this so can you please inform us if shariah allows us to do this since the work is almost finished and its very hard to break down the pillars again.

Displaying pictures of the deceased

Q: If pictures of a deceased person are being displayed, who will be sinful, the deceased or the living?

Living in a place where there is no Muslim cemetery

Q: Me and my wife life where there is no Muslim graveyard. There is only a Christian graveyard. My wife also reverted to Islam. If me or my wife die can we be buried in the Christian graveyard if we don't have money to send the body to a Muslim country. If someone makes our funeral in a Muslim country masjid while our body is not there, will this funeral be valid while we buried in this non muslim country?

Who should help with the burial arrangements

Q: In case of a death in a family, for example the father dies, then who is responsible for fulfilling the requirements such as bringing kafan, digging the grave, making arrangements for the guests to sit and stay, and so on? Because the near ones such as the wife, sons and daughters of the deceased are in grief, so they are not in a position to make necessary arrangements.

Telling a deceased to convey salaams to someone who already passed away

Q: Can a person send salaams to his deceased relative at a mayyit of another deceased relative? For example, a person goes by the ear of the deceased and tells the deceived to send salaams to one of the relatives that passed away before. Do they receive the salaams?

Writing durood on tombstones

Q: Can we write Durood on a marble slab and keep this slab at the grave so that people who come to the graveyard will read it? Is this permissible in Islam?

Marriage terminating with death

Q: I came across that death terminates marriage. But I have seen a hadith that our Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said to Ayesha (radhiyallahu anha) that if she dies first then he will give her a bath. Also, Ali (radhiyallahu anhu) gave Fatima (radhiyallahu anha) a bath. Can you give me authentic ahaadith and proofs that death terminates marriage? In afterlife, will husband and wife would be together in jannah. So it is really confusing.
