Performing Qurbaani at night

Q: Is it permissible to perform qurbaani during the night?

A: If the qurbaani is carried out in a place which is well lit and there is no fear of one making a mistake while slaughtering, the qurbaani will be permissible.

والمستحب ذبحها بالنهار دون الليل لأنه أمكن لاستيفاء العروق (الفتاوى الهندية 5/296)

(وكره) تنزيها (الذبح ليلا) لاحتمال الغلط (الدر المختار 6/320)

والمستحب ذبحها بالنهار دون الليل لأنه أمكن لاستيفاء العروق وإن ذبحها بالليل أجزأه مع الكراهة (الجوهرة النيرة 2/186)

(فمنها) أن المستحب أن يكون الذبح بالنهار ويكره بالليل والأصل فيه ما روي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه نهى عن الأضحى ليلا وعن الحصاد ليلا وهو كراهة تنزيه ومعنى الكراهة يحتمل أن يكون لوجوه أحدها أن الليل وقت أمن وسكون وراحة فإيصال الألم في وقت الراحة يكون أشد والثاني أنه لا يأمن من أن يخطئ فيقطع يده ولهذا كره الحصاد بالليل والثالث أن العروق المشروطة في الذبح لا تتبين في الليل فربما لا يستوفي قطعها (بدائع الصنائع 5/60)
