The time of ishraaq Salaah
Q:
1. When does the time of Ishraaq end?
2. A person engages in Zikr after Fajr Salaah till the commencement of Ishraaq. He stops his Zikr, performs his Ishraaq at this earliest time, and thereafter resumes his Zikr until completion. Will it be better for him to complete all his Zikr first, and then perform his Ishraaq Salaah? Or will it be better to pause his Zikr and perform Ishraaq at the earliest time?
A:
1. The time of ishraaq is from after sunrise till zawaal. It is however better to perform the ishraaq within the first quarter of the day (i.e. before the halfway point from after sunrise till zawaal). E.g. If sunrise is at 5:00am and zawaal is at 12:00pm, then ishraaq will commence approximately 20 minutes after sunrise (i.e. 5:20am) till zawaal and performing the ishraaq within the first quarter of the day will be till before 8:30am. Thereafter the time of chaasht will commence till zawaal.
2. To stop the zikr and perform the ishraaq is better. However completing the zikr and thereafter performing the ishraaq is permissible.

(و) ندب (أربع فصاعدا في الضحى) على الصحيح من بعد الطلوع إلى الزوال ووقتها المختار بعد ربع النهار. (الدر المختار 2/23)
