Woman going fishing
Q: Are women allowed to fish?
A: The best place for a woman is her home. Through remaining within her home, she will be guarded from the gazes of strange men and her deen and respect will be protected. Shariah commands a woman to observe pardah at all times from strange men and hence she is commanded to remain within her home and not leave her home except to fulfil a valid need.
Leaving her home for the purpose of fishing is not a valid need for which Shariah allows her to leave her home. Apart from this, there are many fitnahs that a woman can expose herself to through being present in such environments where people generally fish. Hence, it is not right for a woman to leave her home to go fishing. This culture is not in keeping with the Islamic teachings and the Islamic culture.
