Signs of someone passing away and what to recite
Q:
1. What are the signs of someone who is going to pass away, what should one look for?
2. In a case of a coma patient, what should one read into the patients ear when the doctors advise that it is near his/her time due to organ failure?
3. What zikr will make this time easy for the patient?
A:
1. The fuqaha mention that some of the signs which become apparent on a person who is about to pass away are, his breathing becomes difficult, the limbs of his body become loose, he is unable to stand, his nose becomes slightly bent and his temples begin to sink in.
2 & 3. You should not recite anything in the patient's ear. However, the kalimah should be recited around him in order to encourage him to recite it. Similarly, Surah Yaaseen, Surah Baqarah or Surah Ra'd can also be recited near him.
