Training to be a boxer

Q: We are aware that boxing and hitting the face or head isn't allowed. In some places, training is undertaken with headgear and other protection, this happens under the supervision of trained professionals. This is only for training and not on a professional level.

Is this permissible?

A: If the training does not contravene any of the laws of shariah i.e. it is under the supervision of an upright, pious Muslim who adheres to the laws of deen, the clothing and place where the training takes place conforms to shariah, there is no intermingling of sexes nor any photography or music, it does not entail hitting on the face directly, it does not encroach on the other rights one owes to Allah Ta'ala (eg. salaah or the rights of the creation such as the rights one owes to one's family), and the company one is joining consists of upright Muslims, then it will be permissible for one to take part in this training.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
