Distributing inheritance money against the laws of shariah

Q: I need some information on inheritance. My mother has passed away and left some money. According to my mother, its her wish that the money be equally divided by her kids. Do we have to fulfill her wishes or go by Islamic rules of inheritance?

A: The wealth will form part of her estate and will have to be distributed among the heirs according to the stipulated laws of shariah. It is not permissible to distribute the wealth against the laws of shariah. By doing so, the deceased will be sinful as well as the heirs.

And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
