Remaining silent for the duration of three Subhaanallahs
Q: Sometimes, I lose focus during Salaah for over 10 seconds wherein I remain silent and do not recite qiraat. When this happens, I silently think about worldly matters. I don’t do this on purpose. It just happens and takes a while for me to realize that I should focus on Salaah. Does this invalidate the Salaah?
A: The Salaah does not break. However, if one remains silent for the duration of three Subhaanallahs or more, sajda-e-sahw becomes waajib.
And Allah Ta'ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
( و ) اعلم أنه ( إذا شغله ذلك ) الشك فتفكر ( قدر أداء ركن ولم يشتغل حالة الشك بقراءة ولا تسبيح ) ذكره في الذخيرة ( وجب عليه سجود السهو في ) جميع ( صور الشك ) سواء عمل بالتحري أو بنى على الأقل فتح لتأخير الركن (الدر المختار 2/ 93)
( و ) يفسدها ( أداء ركن ) حقيقة اتفاقا ( أو تمكنه ) منه بسنة وهو قدر ثلاث تسبيحات (الدر المختار 1/ 625)
