Husband Burying his Wife

Q: Is it permissible for the husband to bury his wife?

A: It is better for the mahrams to bury the deceased, however if it is difficult for the mahrams to take part in the burial, then it will be permissible for the husband to assist in the burial.

وذو الرحم المحرم أولى بإدخال المرأة ثم ذو الرحم غير المحرم ثم الصالح من مشايخ جيرانها ثم الشبان الصلحاء (مراقي الفلاح ص 609

وذو الرحم المحرم أولى بإدخال المرأة من غيرهم كذا في الجوهرة النيرة (القتاوى الهندية 1/166)

( ويمنع زوجها من غسلها ومسها لا من النظر إليها على الأصح ) منية (الدر المختار 2/198)
